I phoned RAC few days and they told me it will cost me £199 for a compenhensive check up on the vechicle. I'm looking to buy a van at the moment so was thinking it would be a good thing to do.

are there any other good companies that does that?

Just google for vehicle inspection and try some of the results with the details of the vehicle and your location. I think whether you find something cheaper may depend on the level of inspection you want and where you live.

Become an RAC member and get a discount on the inspection, or buy a car from an RAC approved dealer thats already had a similar inspection.
