    Buy from a dealer. There's nobody more dishonest than the general public

    Buy privately and you basically have no comeback unless the vehicle is unroadworthy or the vendor lied about the condition of the vehicle (assuming you asked the right questions). And even then you may never recover your losses. Buying from a dealer gives you consumer protection under SOGA. But that applies to any trader, not just a main dealer.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
