Stripping/restoring oak ceiling beams

I want to strip layers of black paint from some old oak beams and restore thrm to their original state.

Right I know I can hire people to do the job but obviously I want to save money:D

I don't want to sandblast the beams because they are too old and I dont want to damage them - house built in 1758.

I've been reading up about soda blasting and I've been looking to buy a machine.

Has anyone done this themselves.

What machine did you use.

Any tips or advice would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Yes done we used eastwood because had one in building we bought but sealey etc all pretty much the same its mess is about the same but as pressure is less typically 18 -22 psi, as opposed 100psi ok at removing paint varnish etc doesn’t pit surface that you get with sand unless pressure to high etc

These guys show you how to make one pretty easy

Or hire one practice with some old timber see if you feel ok doing it can put up with mess noise etc
