Hi
I've been with TT for 2 years now. Ive always took out the pay up front deal for your line rental. The broadband was £3.50 per month. I also have 2 mobile contracts. There was extra money in my home phone and broadband account and this has paid for my broadband for the last 12 months. So therefore they have never needed my direct debit details.
But... They have needed my dd for my 2 mobile contracts. They had these over a year ago. So to clarify one TT account split into 2 sections. Mobile and landline.
I've come to renew for a third year and took out fibre 18 months contract and decided not to pay line rental upfront.
They foned me up the other day and said I've missed my first line rental payment and I need to pay over phone and also i need to set up DD.
They said they are charging me £4.50 for paying over there phone!!!!!!!! !!!!!!.
THEN
I get my next bill and they have charged me another £10 charge for being late with that original payment!!!!!!
So £4.50 for paying over the phone and £10 for being late.
Now I was not going to make a fuss over £4.50 but he never said on that phone call that he was also charging me another £10.
SO.. I think both charges are harsh. It probably details them somewhere...
Firstly. Nobody has said anything to me about setting a DD up for the line rental especially since I've paid upfront for 2 years. Also they have my DD details for my mobiles on my same account and address etc.....
Any thoughts on an ground for taking this further.
Thanks

You didn't pay your bill. Simple.
I'm sure if you phone them and explain they may give you a goodwill gesture. Why didn't you ask originally? Maybe you should have made a fuss.
Make sure they get paid and you'll not get charged again.0 -

Direct Debits for home phone/broadband and mobile are totally different and will show as 2 separate items (debits) in your bank.
It's up to you to arrange the DD not the person wanting paid.0
