Will we be made homeless?

Myself and my Girlfriend lived with her mum but we moved away to go to University. However, her mum became ill so we gave up our Uni accommodation (which we can't now move back to) to move back to live with her mum.

However, her mum has now died and because 1. We didn't live there for a year before the death 2. Only one succession is allowed per household and that has already taken place when my g/f dad died it was passed to her mum.

Therefore, I do not believe we are legally allowed to stay in this house. Does anyone know will we be made homeless? My g/f is disabled would they take this into considerations in being allowed to stay in the family home?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

i would of thought they have a duty to house you as you wont be making yourself intentionally homeless but i know councils will do anything in their power to fob you off and not help.
this happened to someone i know, she lived in a 3 bed with her parents, her mum got put into a home then a year later the dad did, she couldnt keep the house so they moved her to a 1 bed.

When your girlfriend moved away to go to uni was she on the electrol role at her mother's house and in her uni accommodation as legally allowed for full time students?
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)
  • They probably won't let her stay there but they will probably have a duty to rehouse her.
