This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone.
It's another foul weather day. Never seen so much water fall down. I've gone back under the duvet though can feel the urge to get up coming on.
Never to clean out the fire, too much ash there. I use a dedicated vacuum cleaner so its not a difficult job.
My delivery didn't turn up yesterday I'm really annoyed, sat in the house for 12 hours. I rang the company in a temper, but was very polite too, and cancelled the order. I'm not prepared to wait in anothe day in order to use their goods. Mind you it's not really their fault as Parcelforce have the order.
I will fill the bird feeders, take a trip to the tip and that's about it. We can do without everything else.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -

Hope everyone has a good weekend

Good morning everyone :hello:
Thank you Gers for starting the thread, I hope your weather improves and you get some Spring sunshine.
It is going to be another nice day here but I have no plans to leave the house. My day did not start off too well as I wanted a shower when I woke but found there was no hot water as the gas had run out. I have money on the card to top up the meter but the gas board in their infinite wisdom put the meter on the floor where I can't get down to do it. I have to wait for hubby to get up but I'm leaving him sleep for now as he is still recovering from a nasty cold.
Tesco is going to be delivering between 10 and 11 much to the delight of the girls. The fridge is completely bare aside from some mashed swede and an elderly tub of cottage cheese. It's quite a big order so I wanted to have it delivered when everyone was here to help put it away. DD13 asked for some filo pastry as she is making samosas in school next week. I can't believe how dear the pastry is but I would not like to have to attempt to make it. I really hope everything gets delivered and we don't have too many silly substitutions.
The house needs a good tidy and clean so I will give the girls a room each to be responsible for and they can tidy their bedrooms too. I don't go in there any more as I find it too stressful. I remember my room being exactly the same and driving my mum to despair. In fact it wasn't until I was in my 30's that I really got the hang of housework. My mum is extremely houseproud and although her house looks like a show home, you cannot be comfortable in it and I rarely visit because of it. My home is very much lived-in but I hope my visitors feel able to relax and enjoy being here. They keep coming back so I hope I have the balance right.
Well that's all my waffle for now, I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -

Happy Birthday redruby :bdaycake:
Our plans changed yesterday – we ended up at a rescue centre
We found a little bundle of nerves who needs extra time at the centre for a bit of training. But he's reserved for us and we just need to visit him a few times and take him for walks. He's ours as long as there's no stress between him and chickens, so fingers crossed please

Eggs sales are picking up again, I'll put the money towards the new fence for the girls.
I'll zip around the house with a duster and the hoover, then get stuck into my crochet. The weather's a bit dull and lifeless, perfect for gardening
I'll potter about out there later on.

Still blowing a gale here and it looks like it's going to be dull and damp.

Morning All
Foul weather here and I think it is set in for the day. Washing will have to hang about the house, I'll finish it off in the drier later.
Happy Birthday redruby - you're right, housework is illegal on your birthday!
tru - how exciting for you, the little bundle is very lucky to have found you, I hope it all works out.
Paperwork to do today, the weather means I can't do much else so will get stuck in after this. Took all the old floor/skirting boards to the tip yesterday afternoon, they have been cluttering up my drive since before christmas but I haven't had a vehicle suitable for taking them in. So glad to have an estate car back.
Hope you all have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Ooops sorry yes it's a dog
Can't believe I said that and didn't mention what type of animal :rotfl: Bulletproof0
