This is my first flat and still getting used to the gas and electricity, I just worked out that in 17 days I have used 291kwh of gas, 26 units I am shocked but did have the heating on low 24/7 it is now off lol, the reading on wed 18th feb was 01526 today it is 01552, I live on my own cant afford that sort of usage lol

Well done for reading your meter and checking your usage - too many don't bother.
I can't see why about 72 p per day for winter is too much. 17 kWh per day averaged over 17 days is pretty low. If you did have the heating on all the time do double check you do not have an imperial meter as that seems too little for that pattern.0 -

For me it's a lot ha ha but trying to keep costs down as unemployed but I think next month will definitely be cheaper lol :beer:0 -

Also it's reading in m3 so it should be metric0 -
For me I use more or less 200 kWh each month when the heating's off. That's using the gas for a daily shower, the odd bit of cooking on the hob, and the boiler's pilot light on 24/7.
As I had the central heating on occasionally in Jan and Feb it was 700 and 620 kWh respectively. My heating is now off until December though so will be back to 200
Definitely recommend taking monthly reads so you know where you stand (I had issues a few years ago where my gas meter broke so it was stuck at the same figure for months and I received a huge estimated bill. Got it sorted in the end but if I'd taken monthly reads I'd have noticed the problem sooner).0 -

You can't afford to pay 50p a day for gas consumption to keep you warm, despite these days being mainly cold winter weather?
Oh well, at least you did the right thing by cutting your cloth accordingly.0 -
Hi,
well going by techno12's 'I use more or less 200 kWh each month when the heating's off'.
About a third of your usage would be just normal usage, cooking etc.0
