Aldi's Stuffed Mushrooms with added hair!

I bought Aldi's stuffed mushrooms yesterday to have as a starter when my friend was coming for dinner. We found 2 long dark hairs in her mushroom, I am blond and she is a red head so they were not ours. I contacted Aldi's customer service and they have advised me to take the packaging back to the store for a refund! I have the hair, still in part of the stuffed mushroom, so surely there should be some offer of compensation. Does anyone know what my rights are?

When I had a chicken that smelt off I was also offered a refund or exchange by Aldi.
Some, like Tescos give good compensation as a gesture, others offer full refunds. With hairs it would be difficult to prove how and when they got there and by who, I suppose.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

As I believe mushrooms are grown in manure the hairs are probably from a horses tail, it is better than having horse meat in your food.0 -
They may still offer you something more. I had a pack of apples from there that were off when purchased.....called them and they only said to bring back the packaging next time I was in.
I had got some shopping when I was in also and on top of refunding me for the apples, they put through about £6-7 worth of stuff without charging me.
Realistically though, your rights are to a refund. If they offer you anything more, its usually a bonus rather than an entitlement. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
Mushrooms are grown in compost that has fibres that look like dark hair.0

Compensation? In order to be entitled to compensation you need to have suffered some loss - it seems that the loss you suffered was the food that you decided was not edible and so you should be refunded for that.
I don't think you'll get anywhere trying to claim for trauma or mental distress due to a bit of hair in some food. As others have said some retailers will offer a good will gesture but that is certainly not something you are entitled to.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -

I took the mushrooms back and they refunded the cost and gave me a bottle of wine as a goodwill gesture which was lovely. Think hairs are just quite a yukky thing to find in your food and luckily the staff agreed.0
