Car has come back worse than before

Sorry for the delay.
The car is a 2007 Nissan X trail with factory fitted sensors, and a tow bar from new.
There was not huge damage to the tow bar, but it was rusting, wiring etc was all fine.
Do people think the garage should be sorting it for me? Instead of telling me to sort it myself? As far as I am concerned, it went in fine, but came back broken, if they did not want to take it on, I would not have minded.0 -
In an ideal world, yes. However you have already taken it back and they didn't fix it and they told you to take it somewhere else. You could get it fixed elsewhere and present them with the bill. They will no doubt tell you to jog on and you will then have to decide whether it is worth pursuing in the small claims court; probably not imho.0

They might argue that they've done what you asked and removed the tow bar and unless they are Nissan specialists they might not be familiar with the fact that the sensors and the towing electrics were linked.
Were you aware that they were connected so that the sensors were disabled when a trailer was plugged in?One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0
