UK Mail - Told them one thing and doing the other

I missed the delivery today as I was on the loo at the time.
On the note, I went onto the website, put my details as specified. I did ask for a collection by person tomorrow morning (Friday) as I have plans to meet up with a couple of friends in the afternoon.
I have just been on the website and put my parcel details. On the status it says Delivery rearranged by recipient between 3:30-4:30pm.
I having to cancel my afternoon out with my friends. Based on the delivery stats for today, it was on the van at 6:15am.
So why has UK Mail not followed a simple request of a customer wanting to collect the parcel? Thus ruining my day. Its very difficult for the three of us to see each other as one lives 150 miles away. She's down here as got a family ruby anniversary do on Saturday. I think we can meet again end April
Its too late to contact them now and be too late to ring them in the morning as if the parcel is in the van by the time the contact centre opens (7am)

They should be able to contact the driver if you phone them before your delivery slot tomorrow.
I was able to rearrange a delivery with DHL after it was on the van and had left the depot- sure enough, it turned up on the day I'd asked it to be rearranged for. I know it's a different company but you'd have thought there would be some similarities.
I'm sure UKMail will have means to contact the driver once he's left the depot. If you don't have much luck with the call centre, it might be worth looking up your local depot's number on saynoto0870.com and giving them a go.The quickest way to become a millionaire is start off as a billionaire and go into the airline business.

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice SM, but can feel your pain as we have had a couple of issues with their ipost division. Twice now when we've been due to have parcels collected they have sent a text stating a time slot when this will take place.
First time they came a couple of hours earlier and didn't use the doorbell - we were in but didn't know they'd been till we found a card in the mailbox. Second time they were about five hours earlier than expected - we were just about to go out, safe in the knowledge we'd be back long before the collection slot and were actually at our garage about to leave when the driver turned up.....
Grrrrr! We've tried complaining both times, but to no avail - think we'll take our custom elsewhere.
Sorry to hear their incompetence has ruined your planned meet up with friendsMortgage-free for fourteen years!

think you can still go online and change the delivery even if its on the van , of course if its on the van you cant collect till the driver gets back0
