I currently have an ISA with fidelity however I want to start investing in shares. Who offers the best prices? Fidelity has a monthly charge of £5.10 for some reason

It depends what you want. If you are wanting to put regular monthly chunks in, you can buy shares at a discounted rate of £1.50 a trade booked in advance on set days each month with TD Direct or Youinvest. Trades on demand cost more. If you are buying and selling sporadically you can use x-o.co.uk or SVS securities or IWeb to deal at under £6 a time with no monthly ongoing fees if you are not trading.
Depending whether you want international stocks, extended settlement, the ability to hold funds as well as shares, hold foreign currency proceeds, etc, you may have preferences towards one or the other. They all do both ISA and non-ISA accounts.0 -
iWeb have no quarterly charges but there's an initial charge to open an account of £25. £5 commission per trade.0

XO are simple, no frills with £5.95 per trade, no account charges and no annual management/inactivity charges.
You can hold your shares within an ISA, SIPP (charges apply) or an investment account.
It is execution only so no advice is offered and any share research should be done elsewhere.0
