VW and SEAT timing chain issue 1.2 and 1.4 tsi engine cars

My SEAT 1.2 timing chain caused car to break down on last day of warranty which was a Sunday. Do I have any rights against SEAT to help cover £730 cost to repair? Also is there an actual problem with this part in VW and SEAT cars as my car has only completed 14K miles and after doing some searches on this there are quite a few similar stories on the internet and VW are not admitting to an issue with this part. Thanks.

I had a 2004 1.2 Ibiza that had the same problem after 40K so it's possibly being going on for a while.0

Sounds like it mine is 2012 registered.0

I had a 56 reg Ibiza for five years, went from 29-46K and no issues with the chain. I was never aware of any with other Seat owners I knew.0

Last day of warranty is still in warranty. Timing chain problems on these are not unheard of. VAG aren't very good with new technology engines.
Early FSI engines from 10-12 years ago weren't the best, original 1.4 TSi had lots of issues so supercharger removed, chain driven TSi engines have problems.
I'd demand a warranty repair.0
