Oh I didn't realise we were talking about drinks!

I had a glass of prosecco yesterday, I have a glass once a month when I go out with DD, I have more sex than I do alcohol and that's the way I like it.

My mum was a teacher, I personally think there are to types, teachers, who are normal members of society and are good at their job & TEACHERS, who aren't good at their job so make a lot of noise about it.
    Chin up, Titus out.

DD is staying in hospital overnight as she didn't go to theatre until 4.30, but is fine. She says she's very sore but has had painkillers and the staff are lovely. Her Dad will pick her up when she's ready to come home. thanks for your good wishes :) Seems odd to think people used to stay in for 10 days after having their appendix out! No keyhole surgery in those days, of course.

Hester, I couldn't agree more about teachers. The best compliment I could be given when someone discovered what I did was, "well, you don't look like a teacher. I'd never have guessed."
On one occasion I went to a conference of several hundred of the species. As I left the the station I asked the gloomy looking ticket collector if he was having a bad day. "I am," he complained, "I've had enough of ****** teachers. I hate 'em."
"Me too." I sympathised and pranced off with a song in my heart.

Good news about your DD Ivyleaf. Operations do seem to be getting simpler. A friend of mine has just had a hysterectomy and says that she doesn't have a mark on her. I said that surely there was a little keyhole thing, they had to get in there somehow. She thought for a moment then volunteered that she thought it was a sort of Dyno-rod dredging procedure . Doesn't bear thinking about, does it?

Mila, I hit the bourbon in the end, neat too. My dad would turn in his grave if I put anything in whisky or bourbon . And all is well. I don't have the energy for Hesters version of a stiff one :rotfl:

Fairyprincess, that house really took the biscuit. Much safer to be out of there.

Floss, I have lovely neighbors who have given me a key to their house and said shower when you want. Incredibly kind considering that it could be 3 weeks. I love the 2006 one though :rotfl

Islandmaid, round here you have a choice, those that do shoddy work, those that never turn up, or one who's a bit messy on the way but gets to what you want in the end. I may have to wrangle him, but he will do what I want to a decent standard.

Glad your DD is good Ivyleaf xx

    Morning all,

Hester I'm not quick enough for your wit :rotfl:

Ivy I'm so glad your DD is resting comfortably and will be home soon.

We're forecast a nice day today, so there is a wash currently on and I have plans for weeding, tidying up around the front door, hopefully wrangling OH into cutting the twenty-six blades of grass we have (ok, so it is more than that but not much!) and knitting in the garden. I also need to get back to the rag rug I'm making. I've done a fair strip of it, but it does take me ages. I got bored as spring approached and went back to knitting but now I've had a break it is time to get back to it. I might finish it by the turn of the decade at this rate!

My neighbour (for those who have been around awhile, not the one who I've mentioned having various problems with) gave me a cutting from one of his fuchsias. I've gotten it to root and it is coming along nicely. I'm not sure exactly how long I need to wait before I put it in soil, but I think I'll mosey to the pound shop which is rather more than a pound shop and see if I can get some soil and a pot for it as all of mine that aren't in use are too small.

I think it will be macaroni cheese for tea with steamed broccoli, green beans and either carrots or a salad. We'll have leftover pizza and a salad for lunch today. I also have some apples that need using up so I'll try to plop those into a cake.

My children had some really good teachers, but not many. A good few bad ones too. My eldest son was dyslexic and painfully shy, and by primary 5 could only spell one word and that was his name!! Then one day the teacher shouted and smacked him for what she called "dumb insolence". That was when I moved his school and he got a lovely nun who had him reading spelling and counting within 6 months!
Then they moved her to Brazil lol

mar So glad she got your poor lad sorted before she left!

OH has gone to collect DD1 from hospital. Apparently she has been waiting some hours for her meds to bring home with her, and has just found the pharmacist has left without dispensing them

    Evening all,

I had to cut my knitting and radio session short as it is a bit chilly and overcast outside, so I'm just finishing off the jazz programme inside and then will go and make the tea.

The weeding is all finished, but I'm scratching my head trying to come up with something else to edge the garden with. A small portion is lined with bricks, all of which I dug up. I tried to womble some awhile back but was told that I could not take them from a skip for health and safety reasons. I don't want to buy anything. I've thought of using bottles or tins, although I'm not sure glass or rusted metal are great ideas. I'm sure I'll think of something.

I've been on good reads replenishing my list and popped into the charity shop while I was out to see if they had any. Our local does books for 99p and there is one a bit further that does 3 for £1 which I'll pop into in a few weeks. I didn't find any books, but did find a blouse.

Ivy How frustrating for your daughter!

Softstuff That house did indeed take the biscuit. We've been out of it long enough to find it mildly amusing. It was the first place we'd rented together and we were on a tight timeline and an even tighter budget. We knew it was a compromise but the estate agents used some pretty underhanded tactics to conceal the extent of the issues. I've rented a fair amount of accommodation in the UK--but only twice from estate agents and both times have had a bad experience. I do my best to avoid them these days.

I had a teacher once tell me in front of my parents that I was stupid, anti-social, and would never amount to anything. My parents had rounds with him frequently but that was the only school and only teacher of that year in a very small town. Whenever I accomplish anything in life I feel slightly tempted to look him up and let him know about it but I can't remember his name :rotfl:

Fairyprincess I saw a picture in a gardening magazine ages ago and they'd used bottles part buried neck down as edging. It looked quite attractive. I've gone with green painted corrugated metal garden edging. Recycled things looked nice, but weren't practical when I needed 150+ meters!
