Monna so sorry to hear about DiL's mother .
Had a cuppa with DS1 before yoga last night & we discussed the trip to Bembridge & have decided not to go as the wind all be against us so battling it is not fun! We were going so we could watch some of the race Monna, so instead we're going to a boat jumble on Sunday and tomorrow DH has a trike run so I'll go with him on that unless it's raining!!
Pottering today - have a bag to go to the CS & might do some baking
Have a good day all x

Ivyleaf - the race won't be cancelled as the skippers will see it as a challenge!!

Ivyleaf: I have never been known to underexaggerate in the search for a good story. There have been 'round the island' races held in good yachting weather, or so I'm reliably informed. However there have been some real humdingers. Back in the day Ted Heath's yacht was destroyed, scuttled, wrecked or whatever happens to these overpriced rafts. He was prime minister at the time if I remember rightly.
It's probably like mud at Glastonbury, happens often enough to become folklore.

Silva: you are very wise. Never mind, the Pilot is going nowhere. See you sometime else, possibly in Ryde?

Monna truly sad news for all concerning DIL's mother. I know you will be such a blessing to the family as DIL comes to grips with all that is happening. Hugs to you for all you do!!

Mila: Thank you for your kind thoughts. I think everyone is still in shock that a twinge in the back, (she thought she had been too enthusiastic in her exercise class) could escalate over a couple of weeks into paralysis, incontinence and the discovery of all this cancer. It has made us all feel pretty shaken. It is a matter for the rest of us of being quietly supportive without making too much fuss. The lady herself is a quiet, reserved sort of person but the rest of the family can be dramatic to put it mildly.

While I am here can I say how impressed I am with how you have assimilated all that has been going on here. Our ways on this side of the pond must seem very strange to you but you have asked all the right questions and said all the right things. I don't know how you do it.

We are bemused by ourselves so heaven knows how you cope with us. It is lovely for us to have your take on things. Thank you.

Monna what a nice thing to say! I truly appreciate your words. They mean a lot to me.
I enjoy everyone so much (well almost everyone :D ) and have so enjoyed how sincerely helpful and welcoming you all are. Experts say that learning a new language help create new brain cells. British English is helping me churn out those cells on a regular basis. :) My favorite thing has been the wonderful humor. It's very different than I'm used to and quite funny. I have snorted or spit out what I'm drinking more than a few times upon reading a comment.

This desert heat and hot flashes don't do to well together!

Big grocery shop for company completed and put up. We are very excited to see DD1 and family plus DD2 and dogs (her kids ;) ) for the 4th of July weekend. DD1 is also having her high school graduation 20 yr reunion which she is really looking forward to all the events. Tonight is meet and greet. Tomorrow is a BBQ and then that evening a formal dinner dance.

Of course! Your big celebration is 4th July isn't it? A bit like our Nov 5th only a bit more formal. You see, I have a lot to learn about your ways.

Most of my knowledge about America has been gleaned from films and television. Judy Judy is quite informative although I do wish she wouldn't say "burglarise". I want to scream at the TV, "The word you want is BURGLED".
But there, I think it was Bernard Shaw who described our transatlantic relationship as, "two nations divided by a single language".

Have a lovely 4th July and enjoy having your children, grandchildren and grandpuppies around.

Sending many best wishes to DILs mother Monnagran. I hope the family do manage to be drama free and peaceful for her at this time.

    Happy 4th Mila!
Monna - we will certainly have a few sherbets in the Pilot! Spoke to the lovely Gordon at the marina to cancel my booking this morning & he said ' is it the weather?' too right!!!
Well I've managed to move my Arris today and make 10lb of jam. 5lb each of raspberry and blackcurrant. A bit more space in the freezer but I've still got loads from last year. I'm trying to organise it in a more systematic fashion as against shove it in the nearest space.
