Well, I was surprised to get a call from the council today. A very speedy response, it seems they take this pretty seriously. The officer had been out to the neighbour, it seems they do have 2 cats and has talked to him about them. The council officer told him if they weren't kept on his property, council would trap them, remove them and fine him. Apparently they are normally indoors cats, but have been getting out recently. After hearing out the council officer, he apparently was keen to prevent this happening. So we'll see what happens, fingers crossed.

I can foresee the time when cats are only allowed out on leads and every cat owning residence will have 16ft sheer, slippery walls round them to keep the fiends in. This will keep the little devils from desecrating their neighbours veggie patches and safely shut up inside the house where they will be.......

Anyone else acquainted with 'McAvity, the mystery cat' ?

I'm supposed to be getting ready to go away to stay with a friend this afternoon and have a to-do list that will take until about next Wednesday to complete. So far I have made a batch of meringues, finished sewing up LO's blanky and had a reviving coffee and chat with DIL, none of which was on my list.

Oh I love those poems. The show isn't half bad either :D I've seen it six times :o My cousins, sister and I always used to do a Christmas 'skit' for the family. We did Cats one year. I still hum the tunes - and remembers my sister at about 11 dressed in leather trousers as the Rum Tum Tugger:eek:

Could I pick your brains ladies?
If you have an overnight stay in hospital do you prefer to take a nightie or a pair of pyjamas?
I have been very lucky and my only hospital stays were over 30 years ago, I am now trying to be prepared , just in case!
Are there any advantages to which you take?
I think I need to buy 2 sets but keep changing my mind as to which sort
Also will I need a robe?
    And slippers?
(the 2 nighties and pair of pyjamas in the box under the bed are probably rotten as they are now 33 years old!)
Many thanks in advance if anyone can offer any advice, I wasn't sure where to ask this really , but the oldsyle board is always my home)
(editing to add that I asked my mum if she was prepared for a hospital visit , and she told me quite confidently that she wasn't going in hospital , she's 87 so maybe just to stay confident and i'll never need them, but its as well to be prepared)
  • Hi whiteguineapig,

Without going into any personal details, I would be guided by what part of your body you are having looked at.

When i had breast surgery I took pyjamas (I was only in overnight) so that the top could be unbuttoned if anyone needed to check on me.

In my opinion I think pyjamas are more practical

    Good luck

  • I definitely needed a robe because I walked to the lift down to theatre with a hospital gown on, and you know the gowns are quite open at the back

  • I just went with what I normally wear (until I warm up enough to chuck it off) - ie a nightdress. I took a dressing gown just in case. The "just in case" being that both times I intended to get out of bed and leave before the need arose for a dressing gown - and I did...

Personally - the thought never crossed my mind/never will cross my mind to plan for a hospital stay basically. I follow your mothers way of looking at it - ie "Think positive - and going into hospital doesn't rate as 'positive' in my book". #crosses fingers/touches wood
