Hi there,
Has anyone used Reeds Rains estate agents? They offer a free house price valuation, but I want to know if they offer good service or not.
Any horror stories/ happy tales?
Thanks very much,
Luke

They are a national chain and service varies from branch to branch and also will depend on what competition they have
We sold our house last August within a week. They had a number of interested parties before house was listed and our FTB paid full asking price. So RR negotiated well and made it easy for our buyers as they sorted their mortgage and solicitor. The service we got was excellent and our neighbours across the road sold their house for £7k less several weeks after ours despite it being on market when we put ours up for sale. Their buyers had also offered on ours.
As a buyer I soon found out who the good / bad agents were. I would suggest you ring a few make enquires etc and see who sounds best / gets back to you. When we rung RR every staff member knew their stock and when I gave my name they knew who I was.
Our branch seem to be very proactive0 -
We used them for a valuation/quote as we are currently selling.
Honestly, I found them very pushy on the phone, trying to get us to use their mortgage advisor, solicitor etc despite me telling them that it depended on the valuation whether we could actually move or not.
When the guy came to value the house, I found him to be typically sale-St agent (which the other 2 that valued our house weren't!) and also a little bit un-clued up. He said he would have valued our house at £130,000 but given stamp duty no one would offer any more than £125,000 so would market it at £125,000. However, this was after the stamp duty changes, and even at £130,000 the stamp duty would have been £100.00 im not sure he was correct in saying that we wouldn't have any offers.
Incidentally before people assume that we just wanted the higher valuation, we have been on the market (at £130,000.00) for approximately 3 weeks and had about 10-15 viewings all with very positive feedback, and a couple of potential offers!!
MSE Luke - most, if not all agents will do a few valuations, so ask 3 to come and have a look, find out their fees etc and make a decision from their! Reeds Rains are a big company so any horror stories/happy tales people have may relate specifically to their local branch and the people in that particular branch.0
