CCJ - Immediate Settlement - Effects?

I am in dispute with a "tradesman" - I have paid the majority of the invoice, he threatened the small claims court, I took legal advice, my solicitor wrote to him explaining he has no case under "accord and satisfaction," now he's filed in the Small Claims Court. I have a good case for counter-claim (loss of earnings due to his delays, legal fees, faulty workmanship leading to emergency callout fees and damage to flooring) but just want the idiot to go away, so will not be doing so at this point.

I will be disputing the claim and am confident of winning. HOWEVER, if I fail, I will be awarded a CCJ. The GOV.uk website states this will stay on my record for 6 years (with all that entails) unless I pay in full within a month.

If I fail, I intend to settle the CCJ immediately (and certainly within the month). What will be the effect on my credit rating, please?

It will either never be registered on your credit report, or will be removed once removed from the register by the court.

As far as your report/rating is concerned it will be as if it never happened.

Many thanks - that's a relief! I'm embarking on a new business and credit will be key. But this guy apparently makes a habit of this behaviour and I intend to make a stand. I suspect he preys on the local elderly population - they probably scare more easily than I do!
