What are the chances of seeing a trade in appear on a used car sales site 160 miles away. Millions to one chance I reckon.

Newbie poster draw your own conclusions

The poster did not say they had seen it on a site 160 miles away, they said "I have now seen my old car for sale on Autotrader"

Many people, including myself, scan the web out of interest to see what their former car is now being offered for.

This is why it happens because rouge dealers know that TS are next to useless.
Are any other colours of dealers affected, or just red ones?

OP - ring the dealer. Ask them. Explain the situation. It may be an error in the listing, they may have genuinely purchased the vehicle with that paperwork, or it may be a different vehicle.

Perhaps if buyers didn't rely on advert buzzphrases, these situations wouldn't happen?

looks like 160 miles to me..
Fast forward to this week. I have now seen my old car for sale on Autotrader. It's at a Used Car dealership approx 160 miles away! Funnily enough, it's being advertised as excellent condition, lady owner and FULL SERVICE HISTORY.

What's so great about lady owners?, I once heard one say after she's seized the engine 'OH, well I did wonder what the red flashing light next the sign that looked like Aladdin's lamp meant.'

It's short hand for 'knackered clutch and numerous parking scrapes'. :)

By any chance was the owner before you a lady?

Don't think so, if my memory serves me right, it was a man from Glasgow that owned it before me.

Don't get me wrong, it was a great car. I bought it as a workhorse to travel from Glasgow to Aberdeen to visit the Girlfrend every week. She then became the Fiance. Now she's the wife so I don't need to visit Aberdeen as often! I kept it in fairly good condition but servicing was done on the driveway as and when I had the time! It was also done in stages! Fuel filter one day, air filter 3 weeks later, etc! :D

They've probably printed the MOT history and classed that as so called service history.
