    I've been Money Tipped!
I don't think it is ridiculous at all to discuss the cost of parts when there has been such a steep mark up. OP should have asked more questions, but the plumber is also taking the mickey with such a big mark up.

Having had a trades-person try to rip me off very recently, again re the cost of parts and rather ineptly I would add, it is most unpleasant. And this was with us agreeing beforehand exactly what would be fitted, him unable to source it, going elsewhere without discussion, then trying to charge me more than twice what it actually cost him and many times more than we originally agreed. And because I queried this he tried to go back and increase the price for work he had done previously and I had already paid for :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I certainly don't begrudge tradesmen making a living, and always pay promptly, but I do think the mark up is excessive in this case. What we don't know is what the discussions were between OP and plumber as to what quality of fittings the plumber was going to supply for the £600.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

The plumber has fulfilled the contract.

The customer should be smart enough to check if pricing is reasonable BEFORE hiring the tradesperson.
