If I open Halifax current account can I use BOS .

I am intending on transferring my RBOS current account to a Halifax one due to bad service from RBOS. idont actually have a Halifax branch near to me but do have a Bank of scotland. Can I pay in money at BOS rather than trail 20 miles to Halifax.
I have never met a calorie yet I didn't like!!

Yes, you can. I have a Bank of Scotland account and I can pay in cash and cheques at the Halifax branch in Glasgow (there's a Bank of Scotland branch right across the street - I was just curious if it would work!).

It also works the other way - you can pay in to Halifax accounts at Bank of Scotland branches.

I think you can use Lloyds as well. I did to set up my Halifax account.

You possibly could but there aren't any Lloyds branches in Scotland.

BOS branches can be used for depositing /withdrawing money; nothing much else.

Halifax and Bank of Scotland are in fact the same bank. Halifax is just a trading name of BOS. If you have a Halifax account your cheque book will have 'Bank of Scotland plc' written in small print on it.

This never used to be the case, but HBOS was restricted (prior to the Lloyds takeover) and it happened then.

  • Bank of Scotland and Halifax branches have a full co-servicing agreement, with the exception of the 3 Halifax branches in Scotland.
