Best place for home decor/furnishing ideas?

I was wondering where the best place for tips on home decor and furnishing a home is? I have just bought my first property and I am absolutely clueless as to what looks good and is practical.

Is there a forum or website with inspiration or best to just look through department stores? I also tried some magazine style website but found the decor a bit unrealistic for my budget.

Another vote for Houzz.com. It has its own search engine. You can type in key terms you're looking for eg 'Red bathrooms' and it brings up loads of images that other people have uploaded.

Houzz and Pinterest, it's also worth looking in places like Next or Laura Ashley (depending on your style) just to get an idea on putting collection together then getting cheaper alternatives.
I also use Clark and Clark fabric site to get ideas.

Pinterest for sure! I get soft furnishings from next and have recently taken up to getting a headboard from decur.co.uk. Worth a look x
  • I just type whatever it is I am interested in, eg bathroom ideas, in the search bar, then click on images.

Another vote for pinterest - I have also just bought my first property and it's not only fun (its basically scrap booking without the mess) but it's already been super useful. There's a lot of diy/ practical tips.

Also, shout out to Ikea Hackers - great ideas for budget personalised furniture.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have also now been looking on airbnb.com, not sure if that's a strange one but it seems to give me the sort of look/feel I'm looking for - more homely sometimes than the likes of houzz!

I cannot recommend the site monoqi enough. They source products from all over the world and have great homeware and kitchen stuff.
