yep this week the pork pies were on offer from 1.50 to 1.00 and they had charged me the 1.50 (I know but 50p is 50p) and they gave me one banana less than I ordered, all the fruit was more expensive because of the weightage.

last week the oranges in the net had mostly gone bad or did within a day of having, not so good.

I rang about the pork pies and she straight away gave me back the 50p, I mentioned the banana and she gave me back money of all the bananas so I had about a £1.60 refund back on to card.

also I had a deal of two mains and two sides for £6, one side and one main meal didn't turn up, when I asked the driver how much these two were, he said 5.75, so basically I was quite a lot worse off, so took them to the door he said I could keep them and just pay for the one sides of 1.65 pizza would be free, as I wasn't my fault. or I could give them back and be a dinner down. I kept them as that wasn't too bad.

the one day a third of my shopping wasn't there and I hadn't noticed till I put away. so now I take note of the amount of items I should have and the amount, and just count when I take out of the boxes quickly then I know that I have the right amount of bits.

I have now changed to delivery saver with Tesco, and its lovely not to go round shop, it was a 30 with coupon for one year which works out about 60p a week for someone to pick pack and deliver to my doorstep cant be bad.

I've started using Morrisons every couple of weeks and I've been very pleased with it.

Last night I did it through my supermarket and made over £30 of savings!

As yet I have never had a substitution.

Just a quick one, I have used Tesco for eight years now. Everything I get has a long date. Any substitutions I don't want get taken back by the driver. Some are better. I was sent to 750 Gram boxes of Crunchy nut cornflakes for the same price as a 1KG one, because it was on offer.
Never had a problem with them, and for £1 delivery it's a no brainer, as I don't drive, and a cab home would cost me £5!

I just came onto this board to find out if people had recommendations for which stores to do an online shop with - we've always used Sainsbury's, but recently have had 3 items delivered AFTER they've gone out of date - and Use By dates, not just 'best before'. So we're ditching them and moving our shop elsewhere.

I thought Waitrose £65 off your first 5 shops offer might be good, but you have to do all five shops before June 3rd, and we won't do that!

    I've been Money Tipped!
We use Tesco delivery saver - it was £30 for a year's worth of Tues/Wed/Thurs deliveries. We're in a rural area so it saves us money driving to the store. Plus its very convenient.

You can have as many deliveries as you like as long as you spend at least £25, otherwise there is a charge.

They do a price promise thingy where they compare prices with the other supermarkets and give you back the difference. I think it is impossible to compare the own brand stuff as the quality varies so much, but Mr BD did check prices against Asda on one shop and Tesco was a bit cheaper. Lot depends on what you buy. They also do a fuel saver thingy where you get so many pence off a litre depending on what you spend.

Tesco have upped their game regarding substitutions - often you get something better and they credit you the difference if it costs more. We've not had any daft subs either and quite often we don't get any subs at all. The subs come in a yellow bag so you don't have to go riffling through all the bags to find a sub you don't want. If there is anything delivered we are unhappy with the driver will immediately offer to take it back and credit us. Sometimes they say keep it and also credit us - depends on the circs.

If there are any problems we just email or ring and they credit without any fuss at all. (Same is true for Tesco Direct) The drivers are also much more friendly and helpful than they used to be. Years ago I had a driver ask me to unload the baskets from the van as she was pregnant which I thought was a bit of a cheek. Luckily DH was here, I wouldn't have been able to do it due to ill health.

OTOH Tesco do seem to have cut some of their 'value' and own brand items which we used to buy - such as their value yoghurt, floor cleaner, tumble dryer sheets.

I think I'll give Asda a go soon just for comparison.

Online grocery shopping is a great time saver - it suits us as DH does the grocery shopping and he hates going round the supermarket.

  • I used to do a lot of online shopping (mainly while I was at uni) but I rarely do it now. Our nearest Sainsburys is huge and only a couple minutes drive away; Morrisons five minutes away, Asda and Tesco both 15 ish mins away, we drive and my OH is handy for carrying the heavy stuff!

The last few times I did online shopping, the dates were all very short so now I don't think I'd order fruit, veg or fresh meat unless I was planning on cooking it on the same day. Sainsburys regularly substitute something that was on offer which a smaller version that costs more money which I give back to the driver so I end up missing out on a lot of items.

Since they've started charging for bags, I find it quite awkward as well. The first time I did an online shop with Tesco after the charges came in, I ticked the box to request that my shopping would be brought in bags, so they added money to my bill to charge me for a number of bags, which was fine. But then when the shopping was delivered, the driver insisted on emptying out my shopping onto my doorstep and taking all the bags back with him! When I ordered from Sainsburys, they emptied all my items onto my hallway floor and that felt like a lot more hassle moving everything than it used to be when they were provided in bags.

We don't do big shops often enough to make the Asda £5 a month delivery charge anywhere near worthwhile either. Besides, I actually enjoy shopping in an actual store. I do appreciate that it's easy for me though, since the shops are so close so there's very little travel time.

I always have my shopping delivered with bags but I have never been charged for them? I had Tesco last week and definitely no charge.

I've used Ocado quite e few times and never had a problem - the delivery drivers are lovely, I've never had a substitution or out-of-date items, and the fruit and veg has always been really fresh. However, I still don't really like online shopping. I don't live that far at all from a supermarket so going there isn't really a hassle, and I just honestly find spending an hour or so on a website really tedious. I feel that you miss out on offers when you shop online and of course you never get yellow stickers!

I know when we talk about Online Shopping, we only consider the large 4 or 5 of them. What about looking at the not so popular but smaller online grocery shops. I find they usually have lots of great deals too. Yes they might not carry the full range as your national supermarket, but most of this supermarkets don't show all of their products online anyway.

Also i find this smaller online gorcery shops offer some unique and niche products that national supermarkets won't sell.
