    they want to know the answer to the last question , how much did she make on the sale . The council will not look kindly on her "gifting" and may classify this as deprivation of capital and that she has made herself deliberately homeless in doing so

    It looks like your wife will struggle to get on the waiting list..She may have to wait until September 2017 to apply to be added to the list.
  • There may also be housing benefit implications if renting a property you used to own.

    Giving her house away will exclude you being added to the list, the council will not house you for this reason.
  • It won't mean exclusion from the list, but it may impact on the priority awarded.

    That would probably be best because I read it's a slippery slope if a council house is considered a pubic fund for ILR purposes.
