Guide to kitchen renovation management and prices

Hi all, we've managed to acquire quite a few brand new kitchen units from someone who bought a new house and decided they didn't like what had already been put in there and of course now want to install them in our kitchen.

When we moved into our house last year and at the time the survey suggested that we would need new damp proofing around the kitchen "whenever the units are changed".

Once this has done we would like the following done -

Walls plastered
New ceiling
Floor tiling
Install kitchen units
Add gas hob, elec oven (we need to extend the gas supply to the kitchen for this, we already have gas CH)
Add / move / remove power sockets
Install extractor fan (would mean cutting through the external wall)

My concerns are basically how to manage this as I think we'd need the damp specialists, a plasterer, kitchen fitter, corgi gas, sparky and possibly a tiler all to somehow work in sync.

How easy do you think this would be and also any idea of the rough costin north Essex? The kitchen is in 2 parts, the main area being 3x2m and then a smaller area off that which is 1x2m.

Thanks!

You need what the Victorian middle classes knew as a contractor or building contractor (because they subcontracted the different trades, leaving the employer with just one contract with the contractor and no need for an architect to manage the comtracts) and what we now know as a builder. Ask around. Get recommendations.
  • i need a professtional upholstery cleaning service provider cz im running a big resturant in los angeles and i need the supplier on the contract base who can provide me the cleaning services for upholstered furniture and places and need to clean them carefully. i willb thankful to you if you tell me the reliable place to go.

    Thanks
  • When we were getting our kitchen re-done which included a lot of gas movement etc etc I just had a number of "kitchen fitters" from Yellow pages around to have a look and quote... Generally a good fitter will have his own corgi gas engineer/sparky that he will bring in to do the bits he cannot do, so you don't actually need to manage it yourself at all.

Get some quotes and have some chats and you'll soon realise which ones best for the job!

If your anywhere near Hertfordshire let me know and ill recommend the person I used - absolutely top notch job and very affordable!
