My partner and I are planning a week away, when her kids are at their dad. So we have a date, April ½ term. We are not too bothered where we go. What would be
the best way to go about booking a last minute deal to wherever's available. How late can we safely leave it? Will prices come down? At the moment they seem to be steadily rising on a daily basis.

Sounds like demand is in the way of a good deal.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

With very restricted dates and school holiday time -plus not all resorts are opened up by April I think your hope of a last minute deal might be optimistic as cheap deals are selling off what is left (like any other sale).
If it wouldn't be the end of the world if you couldn't book anything late and cheap then wait it out but you could end up with nothing ........or book now at the best price you can find. Essentially you are probably restricted to two popular days if half term is a week -and so is everyone else who can only go away in school holidays.
With a month to go and prices already rising and some resorts quite rainy still in April it may be worth deciding if "anywhere" is OK.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0
