Thanks for your replies. I changed her food routine a little in that instead of giving her just Burns I mixed it with her wet food (Butchers - which she's always eaten and really enjoys) so that her meals were half/half. This appeared to work for a while however she is now worse and has bad diarrohea. She's been checked by the vets and he agrees its just a reaction to the Burns and wants her to go back onto the Hills Prescription Diet I/D Low Fat however I would really like to find an alternative as she piled on the weight on that foot and was having throat problems (snorting etc as her weight gain had impacted on her soft palette - according to my vet).
I don't want to swap & change her food too much and she has never had Wainwrights but has previously had JWB but I believe that may be too high in fat for her. For the time being I have ordered a small bag of the Hills I/D dry to mix half and half with the butchers hoping that her stomach will settle down and she won't gain a lot of weight.
A home is not a home ..... without a dog

Of course the vet wants her back on Hills, I bet he's the one sells it to you ;)

Have you ever tried her on Skinners? That's what mine are fed and they do a lot of different types. Most of the feeds are hypoallergenic and they do a maintenance feed for less active dogs (it's a working dog food, hence they will do a maintenance for 'off' season) or dogs that will easily gain weight. The protein in it is lower.

If you're interested in trying Skinners, do contact them directly as they will arrange to send testers if you explain the issues you are having. I found them very helpful.
