Delayed flight caused missed connection to UK

Options
Travelling back to UK , our first leg operated by Air India was delayed meaning the connection Mumbai to Heathrow was missed .We had to pay again to BA for the next available flight and tried without success to recover the cost of the replacement flight , Air India feedback form regularly fails and emails sent to their customer relations are not responded to
Thanks

What do your travel insurers say?

Did you book your flight to Mumbai separately from your flight to Heathrow.

If so then it's your problem as AI were only responsible for getting you to Mumbai and BA require you turn up in time - and good luck persuading an insurer to pay out

If not then AI or BA should have sorted it out for you at no cost to you - why haven't you contacted BA?

I can't see any reason why insurance would fail to pay out - had the flight not been cancelled the OP would in all probability have made the connection, so the additional cost was solely due to the cancellation. I successfully claimed for the cost of a replacement flight from Berlin to Newcastle when the train I was due to get to the airport failed to stop at the station I was waiting at and as a result I arrived too late for check in.

I've got American Express Travel Inurance and as I read my policy it would arguably cover this kind of thing.

Read the OP again, the flight was delayed not cancelled.

OP doesn't say how long the delay was, bit if there was not reasonable contingency time between flights insurance won't pay out.

Yes, you're both right, my brain processed delayed as cancelled. But my point still stands, if the time allowed was reasonable then the delay ought to be acceptable for a travel insurance claim.
