Service charges who pays debt

I purchased a flat in 2013, where service charges are paid in advance in March and sept of each year. When I purchased it I paid an extra £454 to the seller to cover my proportion of the service charges from when I bought it (as she had already paid for that 6 month period in advance).

The management agents are now saying I owe that money again as the seller never paid them, plus another £187 the seller owed from the previous 6 months plus a £94 balancing charge the previous seller owed from an overspend in the previous years.

Do I legally owe this money, even though it was the previous sellers debt? My solicitor has sent me a letter stating I have paid the £454 to the sellers solicitor, but apart from that isn't being too helpful as I'm not paying for them anymore. I really don't know what to do.
