And cake day...Oh no I'm not supposed to be getting excited about that!
  • I think you're allowed one little cake as long as you don't lick the spoon or bowl when making brownies ;)

:j Cool no doubt i won't be able to resist . Just aswell im not keen on uncooked cake mix. ...mum always filled us with stories of bad tummies! She probably waited for us to clear off then licked the bowl herself. lol x

the problem I always has when I told myself I could have just one cake was that I couldn't choose between them as they all looked so nice so I would go home grumpy with no cake at all :rotfl:

Good evening..... well resistance WAS futile at work on escaping the cake sale. Though feel proud that i only succumbed to one slice. Bought a couple of cupcakes for the kiddlies and that was it. In total we raised £292 which is amazing. Still some cakes left so no doubt it'll be over 300. Nice to feel like we're doing something to help those less fortunate. We have quite a few students raising money for families and communities in Nepal.

Not a very MSE day though for me. £3 on cake, £1 on office lottery tkts, and £8 on sundry toiletries in Wiilk@s oh and nearly forgot the £2.40 spend in sainsbobs on a Doc McStuffins lunch bag for my nieces forthcoming bday.

I need to find something else to do at lunchtime! The shops are too near and too tempting!
  • Surveys? Or don't you have acess to a computer on your lunch break?
    A nice walk?
Try not taking money with you, so you can browse but not buy?

Well that's Thursday over with, only 1 day left before i can switch my alarm off for a couple of days. Didn't manage a NSD... spent 6.90 In marks & sparks at lunchtime. Mainly some bits for DD2 who isn't going to her dad's this weekend as wants to stay home and study. Why she can't do that at his i don't know. So I'm having to make sure there's food for her while I'm at BFs for two days. Also got some rather scrummy looking rolls for lunches tomorrow.

Looks like the tax credit extra payment was legit so I might start thinking about where it needs to go to do most good. It works be a shame to fritter it. Most likely I'll save it for my MOT in early June.

    List to do tomorrow:

    Book car in for mot
Call plumber who hasn't come back yet to finish fixing boiler leak
Exchange item of clothing for dd3 in BHs for next size up

    Night all xx

On the final countdown to the start of another week of work..... how quickly the weekend passes :(

Was doing quite well until today with the budget which went a bit skew-whiff on the following

£13 in Asders on a plant £3.50, nice top reduced to £6, cake for kids this evening £1.69 and £1.00 on lunchbox biscuits

Then went to a car boot and bought a couple of pairs of shoes for £5 and £1.

Followed by lunch with BF which i contributed £12 towards. We only eat out occasionally.

Then had to get Wo£10 worth of petrol to get me home but this will tide me over for more than a week.

£41.00 spent .... hmmm, that's pretty much what I allow myself on a weekend that i spend with BF so I guess its not too bad.

Need to knuckle down to saving for the MOT in a couple of weeks.

Feeling a bit down about work this weekend. I had a 1-2-1 with my line manager which was fine apart from she mentioned that 'they' (meaning the boss who sits in same office) dont like us to answer our mobile phones whilst at work. She was at pains to say that nothing had been said but she didnt want me to be picked up on it. Made me feel rather like I was being pulled up by the headmistress. I've only ever answered it when my DD3 has phoned when she gets home from school and even then it was a quick yes/no conversation lasting approx 30 seconds!

I wasnt told about this policy either so how Im supposed to know is a mystery to me. I found it slightly strange that she went on to say that I should give my daughter my work landline number and there was absolutely no problem with answering a call in this way!?

    Bonkers if you ask me!

    Quick update :

A NSD for me.... they dont come along very often! Had lunch at home on way back from some external training Today. Wish i could go home every lunchtime but think I'd find it too much of a wrench having to go back afterwards!

Pay day on Friday then 3 days off. Cant wait to update my signatures, haven't done it for a couple of months.

Expecting some cashback to arrive any day now. Will be swallowed up by reimbursing myself for DD3 final payment for school trip plus a hack she'll be having at the weekend.

Really really need to sit down and find a better broadband deal for when mine finishes in June. Also my mobile is out of contract now. Was hoping the samstung s5 would go down in price but doesnt seem to be and im definitely not paying more than i do right now (22 a month) for an s3. i know theres alot cheaper around nowadays. Might look at sim only seeing as i only need it for talk, text and checking my online accounts.

Having an early night tonight even though it's barely dark outside. Night all xx
  • Sidles in quietly.....ahem.... hello Diary its been two months since I last wrote in you. Sorry for the radio silence I havent any excuse really, work has been, well just work really and now I am on my summer leave due to working term time. This is my 3rd week off and so far I haven't done an awful lot.

DD3 is still at school for this week so Im really just doing the SAHM bit at the moment. Its been really nice to get on top of the usual household chores and my 1st week was a whirl of appointments and organising things that have been left far too long when I haven't had the time or energy to arrange.

House is full to the brim with all 3 kids in residence - DD1 back from Uni and now has a p/t job in Maccy D's. Think she's enjoying it although its early days. Whilst its probably not her first choice of job, it does have quite alot going for it..... good management, high profile company, option to work more hours and its local. Im sure she'll be beaming like a cheshire cat when she gets her first wage slip. Just aswell seeing as she needs a new laptop (current one was thrown to the floor when a moth invaded her bedroom the other night) resulting in a damaged screen. Its not that great in any case so she;s going to buy herself a new one.

Money wise, things are much the same, June was an incredibly expensive month for me from which I am still recovering. No savings left in the pot and not many options for extra money making. I've sold a few bits on fleabay but the money I made just got used up with the day to day stuff. Plus I seem to be handing out money to DD2 & DD3 for trips etc. with all too much regularity.

Pay day is the end of this week and my budget spreadsheet is holding up but tbh I dont get any joy from knowing its pay week as it just goes straight back out again.

Food shop day today (Lidl/Morries) and I've made a list (which I usually then forget on the table at home). Had a squizz at the money saving thrift boards yesterday and am determined not to spend so much on food this week and try to make more from scratch with cupboard ingredients.

With all 3 kids home the cupboards and fridge are constantly being raided so I ought to be filling them up at mealtimes instead.

Tonight is Pork Chops which have been in the freezer for a while, with onion gravy, mashed potatoes and veg.

Will update my signature at the end of the week to reflect current payment situation. I've decided to cut back on the amount I pay to the debts this month as summer hols are expensive. Will ensure I cover all interest payments and a bit extra though.

    HAppy Monday everyone.
