Lost My £5 too. Need a new plan

Since I switched to Halifax a few months ago, when the payment in reduced from £100 to £75, I have had problems with the DD payments out. I set up DDs with Tesco bank for internet saver and ISA. The ISA one has been fine, but every alternate month or so I get a letter from Tesco saying the Internet saver DD has been rejected and the money is returned to Halifax. I then quickly re set it and miraculously it seems to work. I have asked both Halifax and Tesco what the problem is and of course they both say it is a problem with the other bank, and I have not got anywhere with them. In February I was on holiday and did not have time to reset it, and when I did I received a letter to say it did not work again, and now when I look it has disappeared from my DD list altogether.

I have now added my Halifax credit card to my list of DDs, and don't have anything else I can use. My questions are
1) I thought other people had managed to use two Tesco accounts for the required DDs
2) Are payments from Halifax cc to Halifax bank allowed?
Thank you

    1) I've been using an internet saver and an instant access savings account on 3 of my Reward accounts since May 2013 without any issues.

    2) Assume you mean the other way round, ie from bank to card? If so, the answer is yes...but Tesco is so much easier. Suggest you open another Tesco account.

There is a useful source here of potential direct debits.

Bar Tesco savings you could arrange to set up a direct debit to pay your credit card in full – don’t do the minimum payment option though as they don’t always take that if you pay anything before the due date. A few other savings providers do direct debit payments.
