My partner is wanting to buy a Hyundai i30 (used, not new)

Does anyone have one?

Are they good reliable cars? Cheap to run?

Thank you

I've used them often through work. Personally, I don't like them at all.

Cheap and tatty inside, frequent reliability issues and not great to drive. These are company vehicles though and no doubt anyone who personally owns one will have a car that's driven with a bit more care and therefore may not have as many issues.

Met Police have been using them for several years now.

They suffer with lack of ground clearance when loaded up when compared to the Astra or Focus.

They got a deal on the last of the old shape i30.

But they now have a few new shape i30 for use by community coppers and plain clothes.

All Police cars show their age due usage so I agree with the previous post that they may end up tatty if used hard.

Though mechanically they are robust and I suspect the issue of interior wear and tear will be less significant with a private owner.

we have about 20 on our car hire fleet here in Cyprus ,whilst mechanically reliable , switchgear is flimsy/prone to breakage and interiors don't last that long.

I have a 2011 (old shape) i30 as the family car.

It has proved reliable for 3+ years with nothing but routine servicing
Economy around 40 mpg (1.4 petrol) with local use
My base model has reasonable spec for the year inc aircon, usb/ipod socket
Was about 3k less than the equivalent Astra/Focus

Agree the interior plastics could be more durable.
My local dealer service has been good.

    I'd have another one.

I keep getting given i30's by Enterprise as hire vehicles for work - they're not the worst vehicles I've ever driven, that honour goes to the i10 and i20 that I've also had from Enterprise...

Amazing fuel consumption though - the petrol model I had last week did over 120 miles on a tenner.

My sister has one which is just over 4 years old. Now developing niggly faults which is testing the five year warranty promise. Every claim is a battle.
