Help From CFA's?

Hi

I sent out letters requesting CCA's, and ive not got 2 letters back, saying they have no idea who I am. Which is unbelievable, they dont know me, but they have defaults on my credit file.

Can I ask Equiax to ask them for proof or to delete the entry? This makes no sense.

I asked the companies to delete the entry, and they said sorry, we just have no records of you.

Really not sure what to do at this point, noone knows who I am and I have these defaults sitting on my file.

Thanks!

Matt

What to do if there's an error? If you disagree with anything on your file, write to request it's changed. If the agency agrees it should quickly change the file, though sometimes you'll need to talk to the company that originally filed the error

Unfortunately sometimes it may refuse to amend your file. If this happens you're entitled to add your own comments as a ‘notice of correction'. This will often mean your credit applications take longer, but it may help you to obtain better deals.

Don't go on too much in the explanation though, and don't overly berate. Be concise, explanatory and factual.

    Hi

Give them the 12+2+30 days and then send Crown's letter telling them to osrt out your records at the credit reference agencies.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Im really confused here guys.

Today I got another two replies, one saying they again have no idea who I am, and the other saying:

They do not have a CCA for me, but that does not deny the existance of the debt, and apparantly they can hold my data because I consenthey, because when I opened the account, I apparantly said they can hold my details, they said the debt was repaid in 2003 and they wont remove the entry.

I dont even know what these debts are. On my credit file, Half of the entries on there are mine and I pay them monthly, then theres 4/5 that I cant even remember, all defaulted, they dont know me, and they wont remove any entries.

How can all these companies say they dont know me, but they have defaults on my file!

I need Equifax to ask them for PROOF that the accounts are mine, and when they cant come up with anything, they should be taken off!

I just dont know how to go about this exactly!

    Please help :(

Write to Equifax/Experian and submit a note of correction. They'll then write to the companies. If the companies don't respond, Equifax and Experian will then remove the entries.

write to the credit agencies and DISPUTE the entries and ask for their removal. They will then check with the origianl creditors.
Do NOT submit a note of correction as this will confuse the issue.. You want the entries removed and not explained.
  • Oooo ok that sounds like a good plan!

Before I do exactly that, I have one question:

Is the only way the entries will remain on my file, if the companies cannot show Equifax a CCA?

Because you cant just say I dont have a CCA, but its there debt, you need proof?

Its almost funny that me and 3 companies have no idea who each other is, I would laugh about it if I didnt have defaults from them for debts under 100!!
  • Wow ok I cant sleep.

Guys, I have an account with Equifax, I pay I think its 7 pounds a month and I can get new credit reports anytime I want.

Is there a way I can dispute these entries online? Or by phone?

    Thanks!

    Hi Matthew

I request hard copies of my file once a year from all 3 agencies. Various times I've had issues with the reports. If I know the creditor then I phone them directly and ask that they update my file. After speaking with the known creditor I then phone the report - whether call credit, experian or equifax - and fill them in on what's happening. Usually they then mark that particular item of the report as "under investigation" or something like that whilst they themselves contact the creditors and ask that they update the details of the account. FYI - once you get an investigation opened it's usually actioned super quick and it doesn't cost you a penny - other than a phone call.

In your case you don't know the creditor in question so phone either call credit, experian or equifax and speak with them directly. Whichever report you are looking at you should also have contact details or you should be able to use their web sites to register you dispute.

You may want to reconsider paying £7 per month. It doesn't sound like you are using the full services offered and each report costs £2 to have snail mailed to you.

No need for any letters for this. I hope you're not stressing out.

    Take care
  • Thankyou!!

I will do that tomorrow morning at 9am! I will get right on it!

Can you advise me on what to tell Equifax? Should I say, I just have no idea who they are, and I have a letter from them saying that they dont know me either (as I could fax them a copy of the letters or something).

    Thanks guys!

    Really appreciate it!!
