Please please realise that you can be sued if something goes wrong. Working as a Lab Tech in schools and colleges, I always insisted that my employers paid the extra insurance premium to give me (personally) third party liability against any claim (they will not offer, or realise you need it - unless you ask!) and I would never, ever put myself forward as any sort of "unpaid" FirstAider. It is a huge responsibilty in these days of Compensation Culture - my son and his supervisor were sued for "not being caring enough" by one customer. They would have defended themselves against the charge in court, but the matter was settled out of court by their employer (avoiding publicity) for £3000. If anyone ever asks you to be a FirstAider without a) paying your premiums for extra insurance and b) giving you extra money for the responsilibilty - Run a Mile !!0

My company pays £99 pounds before tax to the first aiders every 6 months.0

My company pays an additional £300 per annum (gross) to official first aiders. this means yuo may have the certificate but if your not officially required you don't get a penny.0
