First aider - extra pay?

Hi
Do most places pay you extra for being a first aider at work or is it something you do because it's useful free training / good for your CV? I work for a large company and there would be about three first aiders to about 150 people, if that makes any difference. I want to be armed with the right info before I agree to anything
Any help much appreiciated

I used to work in a school where first adiers were paid extra according to the country guidelines. It was whole 15p extra an hour (in 2005).
Don't get your hopes up too much!0 -
Gosh! I've never heard of anyone being paid extra before... maybe I've just worked for stingy companies :-)
As far as I've been aware before, it's not you who's making the sacrifice, because you're not expected to work any extra hours - it's your boss who is volunteering a portion of your time to the company for training etc, so they could get this factored in when requesting resource.
Be interested if you do though!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

You are taking on quite a responsability though. If someone starts having a heart attack it is you everyone is going to look at to do something! :eek:Proud to be a MoneySaver!

I work for a large Company. First aiders get an extra £75 per year (regardless of grade), they do not get extra on their hourly rate.0

I work for the Ministry of Justice (civil service) and I get an extra days leave for being one of the first aiders. I really enjoyed doing the course and as I have young children I thought it would be useful to know what to do in an emergency! xPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000

I think you definitely should be paid - there is an element of extra responsibility! Make sure your employer pays for regular training updates, you need to attend these annually as protocols often change. CPR protocols changed this year and are totally different to the ones taught last year. (Now 30 compressions to 2 breaths instead of 15/2.)"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0
