Credit History, Rent via Agency, Mortgage First Time Buyer

Hi,

I don't have a credit history at all in the UK. However, I understand it's important to have a credit history when buying your first home or renting via an agency, is that a requirement or is it just important not having a BAD credit history?

Charge cards vs credit cards

If I need a credit history, do I have to have a pure credit-card or does a charge card work too?

Grateful for response from someone who knows, I have really tried to find Q&As on this but can't find it on the Forum,

Kind regards
Jonathan

Get a Vanquish or Capital One credit card, buy your shopping and fuel on it and clear it every month when the statement comes in. Do this for 6-12 months and NEVER miss a payment.

Only use these cards for credit building, not credit spending.
