Independent fast fit might be a better bet.

I really can't imagine someone working at Kwik Fit will take more care over your wheels than an independently owned place.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

ask around get some prices and see who will fit them for you

Tyre dealers make their money by fitting tyres that they sell to you

you will find that more and more tyre fitters are refusing to fit new tyres purchased elsewhere

there is no money in a tyre dealer fitting your own tyres for £5.00 to £7.50 a corner and you will find that many of the big franchise dealers wont touch tyres not supplied by them

Well if that is true, it's an exercise in arrogance over common sense.
Money is still money, money they would otherwise not get and fitting tyres where your not covering the warranty on said tyres, it's risk free money.

The only reason they'd refuse is if the place is managed by a complete moron.

Not really - it's a basic business exercise...
If your business makes a profit (and therefore survives) on selling new tyres but effectively does the fitting at cost, then there is no profit in just fitting customer supplied tyres.
Repeat visits by satisfied customers is barely worth much at all - when will your average motorist need more tyres after just having four new ones fitted?

I don't believe that many places do fitting at cost price and even if they did, a customer through the door is better than none.
For every customer you get in, you get an unknown number of recommendations, could be 1, could be none, could be half the town, you just don't know. Companies pay a lot of money to advertise, so if giving out tyre fitting at cost price, brings in more customers, then it's a hell of a lot cheaper than paying £10'000+ on advertising.

As I said, the one's that won't are bound to be run by short sighted managers, obsessed with targets and short term profit.

The best tyre fitter, using an old machine, standard bar and lots of lubricant can do a perfect job on alloys. A numpty, even with a brand new machine, nylon grips and the "special" ally bar can still chip and roll an alloy through lack of training, skill and lube.
If you haven't actually been recommended someone nearby, the best advice has already been given above, and for peace of mind, take it to a place that refurbs alloys. They do it day in and day out and don't want a bad reputation.

Kwik Fit are fine for tyres. The problem is they'll tell you your suspension is knackered, or in my case, that my engine mounts were shot and that my car would 'fall apart'.

Over 30k miles later, it still hasn't.

None of the tyre shops round my way will fit tyres unless they supply them. The reaso given is that tyres supplied by the customer have no traceability. Whereas the ones they sell can be traced back to the factory.

Anyone can pick a tyre up off the net, but they will have to trust the supplier has supplied them a- grade tyres and not 2nds.

Bit of a bind if you have a set of winter tyres and a set of summer tyres, but only one set of wheels. Or a racing car that uses slicks and you've just had a set delivered from Avon.

if a customer comes in and asks for four new tyres fitted and balanced total bill comes to £400.00 all in lets say for this example the garage makes 40% total profit on the deal they make £160.00 out of fitting four new tyres

next person to pitch up has a boot full of tyres that they bought from the internet and you agree to fit and balance them for £10.00 a wheel so total £40.00 say on fitting only you make 50% profit your total profit for the same amount of work is £20.00

so which customer would you rather serve and would you make a person buying tyres wait while you served the guy who was fit only?

a customer who brings their own tyres might come back again with repeat business but it will be low value fit only again because they think they are getting the best deal and dont care one bit that your business is going down the pan because the only work you are getting is low value fit only work

you might get cheap tyres on the internet but you wont get them fitted on the net
