Hi everyone,


I'm feeling an os fraud at the moment as life is just puttering along - I can't even be bothered to cook very much. Having said that I did make a big batch of celeriac and apple soup because I had some very wrinkly apples to be used up. I love celeriac but don't like celery at all although it is bearable when cooked.


I spent yesterday sorting out the dining room that I use for sewing, I devised some new storage options and feel quite pleased, hopefully it will be easier to keep tidy now, I'm a bit messy when I work.


I have to go and pick up some crochet napkins from a Freegler later, DD and I are going to dye them and make table runners out of them for her wedding. She wants a colourful wedding.

Don't be so hard on yourself... I use every short cut in the book. I am a housewife and good at my job (almost).:rotfl:

My cooking skills are very basic. I cant sew, crochet (much) and knitting is out of the question but I can learn.:)

Morning all,
Glorious sunny day in Hastings.:T

Just had a bacon sarnie for breakfast. Need to clean the kitchen really, but I am exhausted still from the weekend.
OH has lost his flat sale, so we had to go over there to clean it for more viewings, wore me out!:rotfl: Still hopefully something will come of the other viewings.

Friend coming this afternoon. She has been away to Burma, Vietnam and Cambodia, so will be interesting to hear her tales.

DD has to make a costume for DGD on Thursday, World Book Day, so she has decided to go as the Little Princess. Nightie, Wellies and a cardboard crown:rotfl:and didn't cost her a penny!

Heavy rain all night and arthritis pain kept me awake most of it Even two tramadol didn't touch it, so I am a bit of a grouch today.

I have yet another blood test at 2pm and I need to get my repeat prescription filled at the chemist, so DH has just got the scooter out of the shed for me.

I want to plant some more vegetable seeds today when I get back from the surgery.

Dinner tonight is kate and sidney spy nom nom

Back from going to see Mom. Again its been another difficult visit. I found her tucked up in her chair with a tactile blanket at the side of her and a comfort blanket in her hand.

I don't think she knows who I am any more. Ive watched her decline over the 14 months ive been back in contact with her. My heart weeps for her but my head is reminding me what a complete and utter female dog she's been to me over the years. I don't know how I feel. My head is screwed up.

The GP has taken her off antibiotics. Shes been on them constantly for months. If she hasn't got a chest infection she's got a UTI but its clear they aren't working any more. I did wonder if they would have persevered with them if both me and my brother hadn't agreed to a DNR order placed on her files but since the antibiotics aren't working I'm not going to question it as her quality of life is neglible anyway. The staff were friendly but I kept my distance. It is easier.

The bill come has come for this years water rates. Its gone up 87p a month. Not too bad a rise I spose.

Off to finish watching Twilight Eclipse. Youngest has asked for pancakes for tea again. I cooked him a few Sunday night and he's asked for more tonight.

Had a nice quiet morning and cooked a chicken for a salad at lunchtime for me and DH.

Will use the carcass to make a stock and might use the celeriac I got in the veg box as an experiment for tonight. Have grotty looking bananas that will make a banana loaf later and will need to go to library and also pick up prescriptions etc.

Cold here and trying to snow but not very successfully so will get all wrapped up before braving the elements.

Trying to eat sensibly but the cold weather does not help and don't dare get on the scales.

I am sorry your mother has had such a deterioration and it must be awful not to feel able to talk to the staff the way you would want to. I hope things improve.

Afternoon all
Back from work, I managed to catch up all of yesterday's work as the email was working today thankfully.
I'm seeing my DD's later this evening for a natter.
Cottage pie for tea tonight, I'll serve it after I've picked hubby up from work at 5 if he lasts at long, he's really not well, but would insist on going to work.

Sorry to hear about your pain BB - it's awful to be kept awake at night with pain.

Judi - your situation sounds so awful too. I've not got any personal experience of family members having dementia so can only empathise.

Had a knock at the door earlier, found a bloke from a local delivery company with a bunch of flowers from his company as a 'sorry for messing up your delivery'. Here is a picture of them.
