Redundancy Consultation

We have been advised that the company will be making a number of redundancies. My job is at risk and the end of the consultation period is 27th March. I had already been looking for and applying for jobs and as there were rumours this was coming but it has only just been confirmed. I have a telephone interview tomorrow for a temp 9 month post and a second interview on Monday for another post. Should I be offered a job I would put myself up for voluntary redundancy but where do i stand with notice periods and redundancy pay? Any advice would be welcome.
Thank you
Thank you

If the company accepts voluntary redundancy, they will pay you off as normal sometimes even bigger sum. As it is still dismissal, notice would be the same. Also it will be up to your company to choose you for redundancy should you wish to volunteer for it.ally.0

if they get wind you have a job they could just let you resign.0

This is what i was wondering too. Although the company (HR) is helping people find new jobs. The way I see it is that i was looking to leave anyway if i get a job offer then i can resign which saves someone in my department getting redundancy and i get some finacial stability as new job would be six month probation0

How long have you worked there? If it has been less than 2 years you might not be entitled to any redundancy pay and they might just accept your resignation. I had this once where there were 90 people let go and they didn't let anyone do voluntary over the 6 months it took. They just picked off people to make sure they were under their 2 years so they only had to pay them noticed. Even if it was over 2 years there is a statutory redundancy pay, kinda like ssp when you're sick, which is based on how many years you've worked there.
I hope your interviews go well and you do find new work soon. I hope you're luckier than I was with that redundancy and they do pay you better than statutory if you do want to leave before the end.MFW OP's 2017 #101 £829.32/£5000

Start with the package you get.
Is it worth hanging on for it or not.
Either way notice and accrued unused holiday.
Some places are reasonable and pay out if people get jobs some look for any reason not to pay out.
Ask as part of the consultation what the policy will be, they should expect anyone at risk to be looking so the question is a normal one.
other things are the selection criteria, PILON, Garden leave or work notice, what packages are on offer, what help is being offered, finding internal jobs, or support for CV writing, interview skills, phone, time off etc.0 -
Thank you for your help. I will find out what their stance is on jobs and payout.0
