Low rate DLA and benefits

Hey folks:)

I'm really struggling here and would appreciate any advice (thanks in advance:o)

I'm on low rate DLA, receiving £86.20 every four weeks, hubby works part time 25 hours a week earning £640 p/m and youngest son gets EMA £60 a fortnight. The benefits system is a minefield and I'm not sure what I'm entitled to claim. I cannot get tax credits as hubby either works not enough or too many hours, my child benefit has stopped as they say my son isn't in an approved scheme (although I was awarded CB for the same scheme from Aug 2014 - 28 Feb 2015)
Is there any other benefits we/I can claim as I have had my HB and CTB stopped and have full rent of over £300 a month to pay, half Hubby's wages! and £140 a month CT) Don't get me wrong, I know I have to pay my rent and council tax but surely there is some help out there for us as this is becoming very hard indeed and can hubby claim PIP for COPD?!

Someone please help :o:D

Thank you xxxxxx

Low rate DLA won't passport you to other benefits but your household income seems low enough to warrant some if not all HB and CTB....Tax credits would be reliant on your husband working a min of 30 hours.

PIP is not awarded on a diagnosis but on the effects an illness has on care and mobility needs.

Why don't you post some benefit questions on the Benefit and tax credits forum further up the main page , there are plenty of experienced members who will be able to give you more specific answers.

Have you been on a benefit checker website such as turn2us or entitled2?

Yes, I have done the benefits calculator and been on many different sites but to no avail. I'm really starting to get down about things as I'm either not entitled to any benefits as I'm low rate or hubby works either not enough or too many hours. I've spoken to the local authority regarding HB and CTB but over and over again we're told that we're not entitled to either. CAB are on the case regarding those benefits but even they won't commit to say what else we could apply for

If you post on the Benefit forum another member called ....blondebubbles is on, she will be able to help in regards to any tax credit queries, there is also Housing benefit officer who posts...there are several people that you may find helpful.

How many of your children are living at home? How old are they and are they working?

What course is your youngest child doing and how old is he?

Do you receive the care component of DLA?
