Money left over

I have been left a legacy in a friends will, before she died she told me she was leaving me something.
Several people and charities are all in the will, the question I have is that once all legacies are paid, what happens to any money left over?

I know that the lady hasn't made any reference to this, she told me this and hoped she would have lived longer and spend it all !!

Sadly this didn't happen.

If there is no residuary beneficiary then the estate is partially intestate. Any remaining money has to be distributed according to the intestacy rules.

She had a charitable trust, I thought it might go to that ?

No. Unless the will specified that any residue would go there then it must be dealt with according to law. The executor has no discretion in the matter.
