Boiler replacement

Looking for a bit help / advice regarding a boiler replacement
We moved house before Xmas and our new home as a Baxi Solus 2 boiler which is around 25 years old. It works well enough bar the pilot light going out a couple of times. However it doesn’t seem that efficient (gives off a lot of heat) and is located under the stairs. I think we have an open vented system as we have a cylinder on the landing and 2 tanks in the loft.
I would like ideally to locate a new boiler on the landing which should be doable as the pipes all run upwards from under the stairs to the landing including the gas.
Our house has 4 bed rooms, 12 rads plus a towel rail. We have one bathroom, one ensuite and a WC which include 2 electric showers. As I am not the keenest on Electric showers we may well change them to the hot water supply in the future when we refit bathroom etc.
What are my options boiler / system wise? Is there a compromise between a tank / combi system? What size do we need?
Boiler wise we previously had a Worcester bosch, what brands do people recommend? Reliability and Warranty are key as ideally I would like to do away with our BG homecare to help justify the expense
Should we consider 2 zones (upstairs / downstairs) bit of work to split but pipes all seem to be on landing / passageway which has removable floor sections
What controls are best can you set different temps for different times?
FYI We don't qualify for any grants etc
