First Direct - credit where its due

I'm first to moan and complain about incompetence of banks, but rarely give credit where it's due. Recently got married and been going through the laborious process of changing name on accounts, etc. most required original marriage certificate which has been time consuming to say the least, not to mention difficult because we only have one (as that's all you get).
Anyway, sent off to first direct and in fairness received it back via special delivery. Not a massive thing, but small touch like that goes a long way. Set against a backdrop where every other bank, utility company has sent back using standard 2nd class, I thought it was worth a mention.
So well done first direct, highly recommended.

Nice to hear. Sometimes it is the little things that make all the difference.0

Whenever I've worked in organisations that have handled documents such as those - they were always returned them in the same fashion that they arrived.
If they arrived special delivery, then they were returned special delivery and forth - did you send them in via special delivery initially?welshwizard1927 wrote: »Anyway, sent off to first direct and in fairness received it back via special delivery. No - sent to them using their (prepaid) second class envelopes!0 -
You can get more than one marriage certificate when you get married you just have to ask and pay for them. We got 3 extra when we got married in 2013.
First Direct changed my wife's name on her account without needing sight of the certificate.0 -
Perhaps, I'm getting cynical but perhaps FD valued the safe delivery of the certificate more than you did - i would never send an original like that.welshwizard1927 wrote: »No - sent to them using their (prepaid) second class envelopes! This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
