Impossible to comment but at £600/700 each window ! regardless what's going in . what is coming out ? If there is a lot of work and making good then that's a decent price . If it's going to take a few days then that's overpriced:cool: hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

I will add in the details later but it's nothing special, no Georgian style or anything like that. Replacing late 80's double glazing in a 1970's 3-bed detached.
Not lots of work required and I've been told it would be done in 2 days!
That was two local companies in West Sussex. I'm not sure what to try next?!

Just had an 1800 x 1400 uPVC window with two openers supplied and fitted for £350. This was using an existing internal hardwood sill and I did the internal finishing.0

daveyjp first actual reasonable price I've seen on here for windows, cost me around £195 to buy from the manufacturer A rated and for a single window job I'd expect to charge around £150 materials and labour.0

Hello to all.
I have been a long time browser / reader on the site, and have joined in the hope that I can get some genuine advice and help on the following. Also, I have spent the last week, reading just about all and everything,on every thread,in relation to 'double glazing ' etc.
My family, about as close to stereotypical 2.4 children !, 'me' 'her', two daughters 12 &13 ,more like 17 & 18 !!! and a little Pommerainian doggy... marvellous !
We reside,in a small, but 'nice enough 80's built three bedroom end of terrace. In a quaint little cul de sac,in the North Kent area, about ten minutes drive from the Dartford Bridge Crossing and Bluewater.
The house, would be about as easily accessible,as is possible, nothing to move or in the way,to do the work, about,as simple and straight forward a job,as is possible.
The original glazing throughout, was replaced in 2000, and the 'Mrs' !!! handled that one !! ' she knows best !!!. Paid well over the top,for not top quality, and the '10 year gaurentee' about as useful as a chocolate tea pot ! as the company ceased to trade. This time, fully my department,so here goes, all help and advice appreciated.Yes,I have read everything on the forums, and yes,I have done all and every bit of research, thus far, hence,I have left asking for your help and advice until last.
We have the money,to pay for the work,or should I say,we (I) have an amount of money, that I ,being a reasonable 'ameteur' have priced up for the work, and the job is available 'now',and we want it done a.s.a.p. but we are not 'rushed'.
I will do the specific's, in a moment, but in short, three 'simple' upstairs near standard size bedroom windows, and one small bathroom window.Downstairs, one 'simple' standard size kitchen window, and a front door with a full side panel, and to the rear,'standard' French doors, and the only 'odd' thing,is a metre to the left of the French doors,is a same height but slim 'window'.
Six windows, one front door and side panel, and one 'French doors'
The job is replacing, like for like, here are the specifics.
All upvc, all 'woodgrain' / or rosewood exterior, all white finish interior.handles and doors 'furniture' standard white and gold.Something like,or similar, suggestions please ? A rated windows and doors,28mm Argon WES toughened glass'clear and obscure in the obvious places.(bathroom and front door and the side panel).
UPSTAIRS
Bedroom One Casement Window 1190 mm wide,1330 mm high, restrictor hinges, child catch / lock, marine multi lock locking or similar.
Bedroom Two,exactly the same as above.
Bedroom Three Casement Window, maybe a slight oddity ? on size, but what is in there,to replace like for like,is a 'large' casement window, either 1790 mm or 1800 mm wide and 1300 mm or 1315 mm high.restrictor hinges, child catch / lock, marine multi lock locking or similar.possibly ? extra strength hinges due to the size ?
Bathroom Casement window, obscure glass, 890 mm wide, 795 mm high.
All the above windows, are single opening only, from the bottom, going outwards.
DOWNSTAIRS
Kitchen Casement Window,1340 mm wide,1530 mm high, the non opening cross panel at the top is 400 mm and the single opening is 1100 mm. Marine Shootbolt Espag locking, or similar.
Front Door Combination Frame 1780 mm wide,2130 mm high. 150 mm cills,Gold handles and letterbox, Slim PVC threshold, standard fit, door opens inwards, obscure 28mm Argon WES toughened glass.
Lounge Open out French door (s) 895 mm each 1790 mm wide, 2155 mm high gold lever, lever hook bolt handles, lock, and 28mm Argon WES toughened glass
Lounge Casement Window only 440 mm wide, and 2150 mm high, the bottom solid non opening to 870 mm,and the top single opening 1250 mm Argon WES 28mm toughened glass.
That is the lot, that is the 'job' I have left out any mention of internal window boards,if ? for ease and speed of fitting, they need to come out,and be replaced, fine, but if it makes no difference, they can be left ,' as are', would prefer them to be replaced, but that comes down to budget.
Once the work, has been done, the entire house is being redecorated ( by me !) so nothing matters as to any 'damage' to current interior decor, during the actual fitting, and the 'making good' part of the fitting.
I have had, two, quotes, from non national companies, for the job exactly as specified above,I will happily post the quotes,if of any interest to anyone. But the main and only reason for my post,is to get any advice, and or help,on what is a reasonable and fair price, for the work that I have outlined above.
Thankyou for reading,regards Paul.0
