I've been advocating moving the government out of London for years, would save billions.
The Palace of Westminister is apparently delapidated and selling it off to private sector could save billions in repair bills

There is a joke that the name of the body part between the an*s and the punani is the Humber Bridge because it joins the fishy place (Grimsby) with the ars*Hull

are you related to Jeremy Clarkson?
Whilst I have no pleasure in saying this, I'm afraid that we all are! All males that is. Every male walking this earth today is a direct descendant of a single male. This means we are all related, the only variable being how closely.
Graham could be my 548th cousin twice removed! Perish the thought!0 -
You're assuming JC is from this planet. I'm not convinced.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

Actually there is quite a lot of high-tech industry in the area, with strong links to the University.
...also the Deep, errr there are huge Distribution Centres for the the Range and E-Buyer nearby......ummm what Gen said 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
Birmingham would be a pretty logical place. It is a large population center and is geographically in the middle of England. It has an airport and decent motorways.0

And its a very valid argument - Hull has the cheapest rents in England, a lack of jobs and excess supply of housing. London is the exact opposite. If you are going to address the housing issue part of the solution needs to focus on rebalancing our economy so there are more jobs where the housing is affordable.
Well, Generation Rent can show the way and move to Hull. Shelter could follow, with their permanent staff.
That'd create jobs there.
Ah but no... They want to stay in London, but pay Hull rents.0 -

You'll end up with more, not less, professional politicians.
£67k and having to live in Hull - hardly likely to attract the brightest and best to politics.0
