Breaking news.....idiot writes something.......credulous idiot repeats it as fact.
In other news:
- Spaghetti harvest looking poor this year, black and white footage coming soon
- Hitler alive on the moon in double decker bus
- Freddie Starr ate my hamster0 -
I know Hull is not the nicest of places, but what have they done to deserve having that sort of lying, deceitful trash from London dumped on their doorstep?I think....0

I bags one of the rooms with the balcony overlooking the Thames.
Are we also advocating HS4 - a high speed link to Hull so that all the Civil Servants can get up to Hull every time Theresa May wants to harangue another incompetent.....
Or perhaps the Mandarins leave and relocate there as well.
We can sell No 10, No 11, and most of Whitehall to the Chinese, Russians, and rich Arabs and make trillions.....
.... large gin & tonics all round....:rotfl:
PS, I know what you're thinking. The Chinese wouldn't wish to live that close to the impoverished smell 'generation rent' mob, but they don't mind. They won't live there. Just investment properties you understand.0 -
I've been advocating moving the government out of London for years, would save billions.
The Palace of Westminister is apparently delapidated and selling it off to private sector could save billions in repair bills

OP - its called getting publicity for your issue and they have certainly done that. Clearly they aren't serious - but its highlighting a pertinent issue.
And its a very valid argument - Hull has the cheapest rents in England, a lack of jobs and excess supply of housing. London is the exact opposite. If you are going to address the housing issue part of the solution needs to focus on rebalancing our economy so there are more jobs where the housing is affordable.0 -
I know Hull is not the nicest of places,
I used to be of that opinion, but now that SS is studying at Hull Uni and I have visited frequently I have changed my opinion.
And for a City that is meant to be "impoverished" you try getting a space in one of the city centre car parks on a Saturday, the place is always rammed 'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -
What is the main source of employment in Hull these days?
I often wonder with these towns scattered through the UK - what do they actually do there?0 -

I read a book last year called You're Awful But I Like You which was a tour around Britain's worst towns (staying in the worst hotels). The author intended to be taking the !!!! out of places like Hull, but ended up feeling bad for how they'd been let down by various ill-advised "improvement" and regeneration schemes over the years.
Moving parliament out of the capital to a cheaper location isn't a stupid idea at all if it saves the taxpayer money and takes some of the professional politicians out of the Westminster bubble. They are an EYESORES!!!!0
