Odd size spindles

Hi All,

I bought recently from Gumtree around 37 spindles plus hand bar for my stairs Project.
The base of the spindles is 38mm x 38mm and I found out that there are no spindles these size in any regular dyi store i.e. B&Q etc. they are all 32mm or 42mm
Does anyone know where can I get some as I need a few extra to complete the job….

You could probably get some matching spindles made up for you at a joinery.

Have you seen the spindles and measured them in store I only ask as I noticed 2 measurements on timber recently, one the cut size and the finished size.


Other options are to get the larger spindle and plane to required size, source spindles from a sawmill shop/ timber merchant to your order. If you have a local carpenter/ local joiner or local vocational college possible ask for a quote to make you extras.

I have been to B&Q and Wickes they are all 32 or 41mm base. The problem is that I need a bit of base and handrail as well so I will have to order these to be spacialy tailored. There must be somwhere making these!!!
