Murcia region of Spain

Had a warm week in Nerja end of October last Year. Flights quite pricey to Malaga but were cheaper to Murcia. Can anyone offer me any advice on this region. Where to stay/weather/prices etc (24th Oct departure due to school holidays) Thank you

I have a property in Murcia on one of the Golf resorts.
Plenty of property options, £35/45 a night plus £65/75 cleaning charge paid locally are about right for a apartment sleeping 4/5 persons.
Weather wise normally still in the early mid 20's but have been there during the gota fria season ( when a cold spell runs up the East coast of Spain bringing heavy rain). You would be very unlucky to catch that but it is possible.

    Have a look through.

The area itself is flat so easy to get round, driving is easy as lots of good roads with little traffic.

    Good supermarkets
    Very good local food markets.
The Mar Menor bay is non tidal and wave free so gets nice and warm as it's also quite shallow in many places.
Restaurants are very mixed but cover for all nationalities.

My in laws live about 1.5hrs south of Murcia so we have flown into the area and holidayed there quite a bit. There's plenty of tourist resorts in the area, and also lots of really nice not so touristy resorts too.

Benidorm is the largest and most well known tourist resort and from Murcia you can get there in 1.5hrs, although you would be best to do this by car as airport shuttles are hard to come by.

Mar Menor / La Manga is another popular tourist destination and you can find plenty of apartments / villas on places like holiday lettings, airbnb etc. This is probably the closest bigger tourist resort.

To the south is Mojacar which is just over an hour away and has some good family friendly hotels and plenty of bars and restaurants too, although some may have started to close for the winter there is usually still a decent selection open all year round.

If you want something a bit more spanish then Los Alcazeres is only 15mins from the airport and has good amenities, or slightly further if Puerto Mazzaron which again is a really nice resort /town.

Torrevieja and Playa Flamenca are about half an hour away from the airport driving and cater well for tourists and ex pats but make sure you book somewhere that's close to the beach and a commercial centre as I found P. Flamenca to be very spread out and residential in certain places.

There's quite a few places worth a visit too. I presume if you are travelling in half term you are taking children? In which case I would recommend Terra Natura which is an animal park / water park and a fun day out. Also worth a visit is Murcia itself, Mazzoron town or even Lorca which has a castle, plenty of shops and bars etc.

If you like shopping there is a reasonably big shopping centre at both Murcia and Lorca with plenty of high street brands and european brands.

The weather should be reasonable at that time of year, we've been in October several times and always manage at least one day on the beach and spend quite a few afternoons in the pool even though my in laws think it's far too cold for it!
