Opinions on selling with high street estate agent or online scothousemove?

We are looking to move house this year and I have had a few estate agents out to the house to discuss selling fees and valuations etc. (although we are in Scotland so all comes down to home report value at the end of the day)
Prices vary quite a lot from upfront marketing fees to a general 1% fee with some running offers at the moment, however the cheapest by far is scothousemove online. they do not come out to value as they say that is the point of the home report and they only come to see you once you pay their 399+ vat fee and and extra £40 for their for sale board, however they do not take any final fees after sale. Their pics are good on rightmove etc but how good can these guys be when they take your money upfront, is there any incentive to sell? They also sell from the north of Scotland to the borders so do estate agents that know the local market actually manage to get a better price for your property than these sort of places?
Anyone have any experiences good or bad they can share?

Much will depend on where you are. In some cities, you'll be invisible to buyers if you're not listed in the local SPC, as many buyers only look there.

Even in todays modern fangled interweb world, a high street presence is still important. Good Estate Agents can guide window shoppers into viewers, into buyers.
My purchaser 18 months ago walked past my estate agents, she didnt really think she and her new partner (who had a broken relationship and was on a mortgage with his ex and children) would be pass a mortgage application.
They spotted our house in the window, they got guided to the EA inhouse broker (note: this is not a recommendation to use such people....) who managed to find a mortgage, we sold for our asking price.

Bish bash bosh. That person would have still at some point on her own managed to get a mortgage, and at some point found the home she wanted. But my EA got her to buy my home, and when things got stuck in a jam, as they conveyancing process has a tendency to do, she was there with a stick prodding the sale along. She knew the conveyancers that i was using, the conveyancers that my purchaser was using, and they all knew her.

thanks, we are in the Lanarkshire area and although GSPC used to be big here I don't think it is so much now.
I think I may have answered my own question with the online one as they want all fees upfront so will they have any incentive to sell. However on paper they could work our 1k cheaper could a high street estate agent that knows the market negotiate a higher offer as they are working on the commission basis.
No wonder they say this is a stressful process.
