Painting UPVC window frames

Hi, we have oak upvc windows, they look nice from the outside but I don't like them inside.
They have been fitted for around 8 years but still look like new so replacing them isn't an option.
Has anyone painted their upvc windows and if so, were the results good? I know there are specific products available but don't know anyone who'd used them?
I'm also worried that the job could be very fiddly, although the windows are light oak, the sides of openers/casement(?) are brown so not sure if this would need painting too and the locks and hinges would be hard to avoid.
Any advice would be appreciated.
