Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.

Being hated by idiots is the price you pay for not being one of them.

I'm pleasantly surprised, I would have assumed they'd call a battery a wear and tear item.

You'd have to start your engine a helluva lot of times in 15 months to wear out a brand new battery :D

Use doesn't kill batteries - abuse does. Let it go flat and stay flat, and that'll kill it far more quickly than a lifetime of stop-start.

What were the circumstances that led to the RAC being called? I too am surprised its failed so early...
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Not really, if it was doing lots of short journeys you could knacker a new car battery in less than 6 months.

If a lead acid battery is not at 100% charge, then damage is occurring due to sulfation.

If your doing short journeys and the car is never quite getting the battery up to 100% charge, then it won't take long at all to kill it.

I have a 2013 vehicle which has a silver calcium battery in it rated at 80Ah and around 800CCA. It has been playing up a bit recently i.,e i am having to jump start the vehicle sometimes if its left for a couple of days. It isnt sealed so i took out the vent plugs and looking at the visible top edge of the plates, they are not straight/interleaved. The top edges of all the plates are visibly rippled. The vehicle operates in a stop start environment so it might go through maybe 10 stop start cycles per day. Do we think its knack'd ? It hasnt lasted long !
